10,000 euros for Uwe Seeler Foundation
On Wednesday Dr Bernard Krone and Bernard Krone presented Uwe Seeler, one of Germany’s most famous football players, with a cheque for 10,000 euros for the Uwe Seeler Foundation. The legendary former captain of the German national football team thanked them for the donation and explained that the money would be used to support people who are dependent on others due to their physical or mental condition. “Someone who owes a great deal to sport and walks on the sunny side of life should give something back to those who have never had the chance to enjoy such happiness and live life in the shade”, said Uwe Seeler.
Dr Bernard Krone was delighted to meet Hamburg SV’s very own goal-scoring superstar in person. “Uwe Seeler was one of the best centre forwards in the world; his name is also a byword for fair play and absolute loyalty. Nowadays it is almost inconceivable that a player would turn down the offer of millions from foreign clubs to continue playing for his home team. So it’s not for nothing that many older football fans throughout Germany – and plenty of younger ones too – have great admiration for this sincere, down-to-earth man.”
