The two in one forage harvester
Spelle, April 2011. The name says it all - PowerSplit is the intelligent engine management on the new Krone Big X forage harvesters. The system provides these common-rail engines with two different output levels to match current conditions and the application at hand.
To do this, the operator chooses one of two modes of operation. For example, he selects Eco-Power mode in applications that require less input power such as second cuts, whereas he selects X-Power mode for the MAN common-rail system to develop its full potential under full load when dealing with difficult maize conditions, enabling Big X to tap into a new and for a forager unprecedented dimension of power. Simply by pressing a button, the operator boosts machine capacities by approx. 30 or 60 percent, depending on model.
Another strength of the PowerSplit Management system is economical road travel, when the system manages the engine to a specific power curve, which ensures the machine is running at a 40km/hr maximum speed while minimizing on fuel consumption and limiting engine speed.
